CORAL Magazine to Relaunch with New Publisher

Word is just starting to leak out that all of CORAL Magazine's subscribers are losing their subscriptions.

Leng Sy, president of EcoSystem Publications in California, has announced that he is ceasing publication of the five-year-old English-language CORAL. The magazine is an offshoot of the highly acclaimed and successful KORALLE, founded by Daniel Knop and Matthias Schmidt in Muenster, Germany in 1999.

Effective December 12th, worldwide rights to publish CORAL Magazine in English were placed in the hands of Reef to Rainforest Media of Charlotte, Vermont. As editor and publisher, I returned from Germany this week with the disks required to produce the January/February issue of the new CORAL.

Our new company is best known for the involvement of many of its key staff with Microcosm Books, publishers of many bestselling marine aquarium authors, including Robert M. Fenner, Scott W. Michael, Michael S. Paletta, John H. Tullock, Alf Jacob Nilsen, Svein A. Fosså, Eric H. Borneman, Matthew L. Wittenrich, Bob Goemens, Lance Ichinotsubo, Carl DelFavero, Joyce Wilkerson, Larry Tackett, Denise Nielsen Tackett, and others.

Those who were expecting a December/January Issue will get January/February in its place. All of us involved with the relaunch wish to assure everyone that the magazine will continue without interruption, although this first issue will be a few weeks late.

Subscribers can get refunds on their old subscriptions from EcoSystem Aquariums.

Those who wish to continue will need to resubscribe by clicking the banner above or below, or going directly to PayPal. For a limited time, a new subscription comes with the first issue free or a total of 14 months of bimonthly issues for the old one-year price of $37.50.

In appointing the new publishing team, Matthias Schmidt said, "We are thrilled at the a quality of people who are gathering to produce CORAL and we are certain that American and Canadian reef enthusiasts will find the magazine every bit as good, if not better than ever."
